Fourteen New Ships Hit the Water in 2027 — Here’s the Whole Year

September 7, 2026 by Steve Cosgrove Leave a Comment

Fourteen new ocean ships deliver in 2027, and they run the full spectrum: Aman’s first ship at 94 guests, and MSC World Atlantic at 6,774. In between are Norwegian Aura with a three-deck waterslide complex, Hero of the Seas with the most pools in the Royal Caribbean fleet, Viking Astrea running on hydrogen, Oceania Sonata launching an all-new luxury class, and Disney Believe with Tinker Bell on the bow. Add it up and 2027 puts more than 27,100 lower berths in the water — about 4% more global capacity. We’ve laid all fourteen out in delivery order, month by month, with guest counts, inaugural itineraries, maiden-season regions, and the one detail most cruise write-ups skip: where each ship actually starts from. Nine of the fourteen begin in Europe — Lisbon, Palma, Trieste, Venice, Athens, Rome, Civitavecchia — which changes the math on how you get there.

Inaugural seasons are the one time a ship sails with no reviews, no wear, and a full crew still learning your name. They’re also the first cabins to disappear: Oceania Sonata beat Allura’s opening-day booking record by 45%, and discounting on maiden-season dates comes last, if at all. Interline rates on these sailings are members-only — supplier agreements keep those numbers off the open web — but we can quote interline and agency-negotiated pricing on most of the 2027 fleet, plus cabin-category guidance on a brand-new hull, deposit and cancellation terms (tighter than standard dates), and positioning help for those European starts. Click here to see the full 2027 lineup and request rates!

Ten palaces, forts and heritage stays across Asia

Europe gets the castles, but Asia’s fortresses, palaces, madrasas, and merchant mansions also offer beds for the night. We found ten options across nine countries, and the range of experiences tells the story. The list contrasts regional architectures while inviting readers to imagine a stay. The reason to let us book these rather than an […]

You Can Sleep in a Japanese Castle. There Are Exactly Two, and One Takes 30 Bookings a Year.

Japan has more than a hundred castles. It lets you walk through most of them between nine and five, but only two hand you a key overnight. At Ozu on Shikoku, you arrive at 5 pm after the public leaves. You are announced as lord of the domain in a reenactment of the 1617 procession […]

A Castle Night in Europe Starts at $95. Most People Never Find Out

Most of Europe’s great castles sell you a ticket and send you home at five. But here are ten of them that hand you a key instead — and the entry point isn’t what you’d guess. However, at the Parador de Sigüenza, a 12th-century Moorish citadel ninety minutes from Madrid, a double room starts around […]

Twelve castles in England and Scotland you can actually sleep in

Britain has thousands of castles and lets you walk through most of them between ten and five. We looked for castles that hand you the key, feed you dinner, and remain yours in the morning. Twelve fit these criteria: six in England and six in Scotland, all open and taking bookings now. Not all are […]

Twelve castles in Ireland you can actually sleep in

Ireland has more castles per square mile than almost anywhere in Europe, and nearly all of them hand you a ticket at the door and send you home at five. A dozen of them hand you a key instead. We reviewed the open castles that take bookings and are worth a two-night stay. The price […]
