Can interliners get bumped from their resort or cruise after making final payment?
The quick and short answer is, yes you can.
Now how likely are you to get bumped? Not very. In 2015 at InterlineTravel.com we have had a total of 2 couples get bumped off of cruises and 2 couples bumped from their resorts when they went to check-in.
One cruise couple was offered a full refund of their cruise and a free cruise of equal length in 2016. The offer came in about 2 weeks before they were to depart. The refund was made immediately to their credit card so we worked with them to find another vacation for the time they were to be on their cruise in the Med. They are happily looking forward to their Med cruise in 2016, which is now free.
The other cruise couple was bumped from their cruise, put on one that left the next day to the same basic itinerary, given an upgrade and shipboard credit. Not bad for moving your vacation back one day.
As for the two couples bumped when they went to check-in at their resort, both were moved to resorts equal or better than what they were booked in with upgraded rooms.
Now I am not saying this is how it is going to happen every time. But yes, interliners can be bumped, just like regular revenue travelers can be bumped.
At InterlineTravel.com we work with the vendors and for our clients to insure the least amount of interruption and the best possible offer if there is a need to bump our interline clients.
The cruise lines or resorts will usually contact us in advance saying they have a need to bump our client (you). We then ask what the offer is to bump the customer and negotiate the best possible offer before we contact you with the information.
Now if you have already left for the destination and we are unable to reach you, we let the vendor know. They then have to decide if they are going to wait till you show up at the resort or the pier or move on to someone else they can contact and move off the ship or away from the resort.
Sometimes the offer is not as attractive and the vendor (cruise line or resort) don’t make what we feel is an appropriate offer. Some will offer just a refund with an apology for bumping the interliner.
So can you get bumped? The answer is yes but it usually turns out for the better when it does happen.
Rest assured when you book with InterlineTravel.com we will work with you and the vendor to minimize any effects from being bumped and try to get you the best offer available…… and all with you paying NO booking fees!

I just read about getting bumped using interline. can you explain what all that means? Is the article stating if you book a trip through interline, pay in full then there is a possibility of getting bumped from your travel plans like getting bumped flying as a non-rev standby? Not sure what are the benefits of using your site if there is a possibility of getting bumped? Not sure any of this make sense to me…

there is always a chance of getting bumped. I think it happened to one of our clients in 2017. That was on a cruise. We want everyone to be aware there is a possibility that it could happen regardless of how slim the odds.
