Halloween started here. The ancient Celtic festival of Samhain marked the end of the harvest and the one night of the year when the boundary between this world and the next was said to thin. Derry has taken that and built it into a four-day festival that draws crowds from all over the world. On Oct. 31 we have you in the walled city for the carnival parade at 7 p.m. and the fireworks finale over the River Foyle.

Our amazing itinerary is:
- Oct. 27, 2027 — Arrival Day, Dublin — Arrive at Dublin Airport (DUB) and meet the group. Rather than waste your first day, we go straight into the city. Our guide takes you through Dublin on both sides of the River Liffey — the General Post Office on O’Connell Street, the Custom House along the river, and Phoenix Park, the largest urban park in Europe, then south of the river to the Georgian squares with their famous coloured doors and Grafton Street. We visit the Guinness Storehouse, seven floors built around the story of Ireland’s most famous stout, finishing in the Gravity Bar with a pint and a 360-degree view over the city, and St. Patrick’s Cathedral, founded in 1191 and the largest church in Ireland. We check into the Talbot Hotel Stillorgan and have dinner together at the hotel.
- Oct. 28, 2027 — North to Belfast — After breakfast we head north across the border into Northern Ireland. In Belfast we visit Titanic Belfast, built on the very slipway where the ship was designed and launched, and widely considered one of the best visitor attractions in Europe. Our guide then takes you around the city itself — City Hall, the murals and street art, and the neighbourhoods that carry the marks of a complicated history. We check into the Holiday Inn Belfast for two nights. Dinner tonight at the hotel.
- Oct. 29, 2027 — Giant’s Causeway and Bushmills — Today we drive the Antrim coast road to the Giant’s Causeway, some 40,000 interlocking basalt columns stepping down into the sea — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the reason most people come to this corner of Ireland. Afterwards we visit The Old Bushmills Distillery, licensed since 1608 and the oldest working distillery in Ireland, for a tour. Back to Belfast for dinner at the hotel.
- Oct. 30, 2027 — West to County Donegal and the Slieve League Cliffs — We cross back into the Republic and head for the wild northwest. Our stop today is the Slieve League Cliffs, which rise almost 2,000 feet straight out of the Atlantic — nearly three times the height of the Cliffs of Moher and a fraction of the crowds. A shuttle bus takes you up to the viewing point. We then check into Jackson’s Hotel in Ballybofey, County Donegal, for three nights, with dinner at the hotel.
- Oct. 31, 2027 — Halloween Night in Derry — This is the day the tour is built around. We start with a guided visit of Derry, founded in the 6th century and sitting between the mountains and the sea on the banks of the River Foyle. Its 17th-century walls are among the best preserved in Europe and the original city layout inside them is still intact. Then the city turns into the biggest Halloween celebration in Europe. The carnival parade steps off at 7 p.m. — picture 40,000 people in fancy dress cheering along a procession of floats, performers and costumes winding through the walled city — and it ends with a fireworks finale that lights up the Foyle and the city’s landmarks in every colour there is. A private evening coach transfer brings you into the city and back to the hotel afterwards.
- Nov. 1, 2027 — Day at Leisure in Donegal — A free day to catch your breath after Halloween night. Donegal is the least visited and, plenty of people would argue, the most beautiful county in Ireland. Walk, shop in Ballybofey, or do nothing at all. Dinner at the hotel.
- Nov. 2, 2027 — Back to Dublin, Day at Leisure — We travel back across the country to Dublin and check into the Talbot Hotel Stillorgan. The rest of the day is yours — the shops on Grafton Street, Trinity College and the Book of Kells, Temple Bar, or a last pint somewhere quiet. Farewell dinner together at the hotel.
- Nov. 3, 2027 — Departure Day — After breakfast, the tour ends and you make your way to Dublin Airport for your flight home.
Cost — This will vary depending on how many people sign up, but here is the breakdown. Rates are per person based on double occupancy.
We offer two prices on this tour: one for the public and one for interliners. Interliners are airline employees or spouses, airline retirees or spouses, parents or parents-in-law of airline employees, and anyone traveling with them.
For the public, the price is
- 20 to 24 guests – $2,279pp
- 25 to 34 guests – $2,099pp
- 35 to 39 guests – $1,909pp
- 40 guests – $1,849pp
- Single supplement – add $479 – Limited single rooms, first book, first get. Waitlist after that.

We have a 20-person minimum to make the tour go. If you sign up at the higher price and we get more people, you will end up paying the final lower price for the tour. For example, if you sign up when we only have 20 people signed up, the cost is the higher price shown. If we end up with 35 or more going, the price drops, and that price, based on how many are booked, would be the final price you would pay.
Yes, you can bring friends with you, and parents and in-laws of employees can book into this also and go at the same rate you do as an interliner. We want to fill the group to 35 or more to get the rate down. If we get an overwhelming response, we will go to our operator and see about adding a second date. Otherwise, once we hit 40, we will have a waitlist in case of cancellations.
One thing to keep in mind: Halloween is the busiest week of the year in Derry and the northwest, and hotel space is contracted well in advance. Once our rooms are gone, we cannot add more.
The deposit is $500pp at the time of booking if we still have space left.
Final payment is due on Aug. 2, 2027.
